Stegmaier Brewing Co. was founded by George C. Baer & Charles Stegmaieras of Germany as Baer & Stegmaier in 1857, on S. Canal Street, Wilkes Barre, PA. It was rebranded as Charles Stegmaier & Son and moved to 230/246 East Market Street in 1880 where it remained until its closure in 1974.
