Keg Brand Beer Pint Glass, Maier Brewing Co., Los Angeles CA
Joseph Fredrick Maier was born in Bavaria (Bayern), Germany. In 1869, at the age of 18, he emigrated to America, eventually settling in Los Angeles, California. In 1882 he partnered with George Zobelein to purchase the Philadelphia Brewery of Los Angeles, and renamed it The Maier & Zobelein Brewing Company. Maier died at age 53 years on July 11, 1905.
After his death the Brewery was re-named Maier Brewing Company in his honor. His brewery not only survived him, but was resurrected after Prohibition and thrived under that name until 1971. It was then purchased by the General Brewing Corporation and closed in 1974.
Keg Brand beer was produced from 1960 through 1970 and is reproduced on this clear pint glass with a digitally restored label from my personal collection.
